DENT 101 - Anatomy of Orofacial Structures

Prerequisite(s): ENGL 111 English Composition I  , PSYC 103 Introduction to Psychology  , BIOL 124 Human Anatomy & Physiology I  .
Corequisite(s): DENT 100 Clinical Applications of Dental Materials  , DENT 102 Fundamentals of the Dental Profession  , DENT 103 Medical Emergencies in Dentistry  .
This course will provide an overview of the structures of the head, neck and oral cavity.  Students will be able to recognize and identify structures in and around the oral cavity and differentiate between the different types of teeth in both the adult and pediatric dentition.  At the completion of this course students will be able to correctly identify teeth as to their dention, arch, quadrant and type of tooth. Students will also be able to identify the origin, insertion, innervation and action of the muscles associated with the head and neck.
