Interior Design, Certificate


The focus of the Certificate is to create a solid foundation of interior design skills. Conceptual thinking, space planning, programming, visual communication and technical skills are addressed. Traditional and digital methods are used for design development and representation through all phases of the design curriculum. The program is intended for students who wish to learn the basic skills of interior design.

Graduates are able to:

  • interpret the role of the interior designer 
  • apply basic technical, formal and conceptual design skills in the creation of residential and commercial interior space
  • identify major designers and design movements from a historic, cultural and social perspective
  • analyze design concepts and theories 
  • demonstrate design communications, plans and processes through traditional and digital means 
  • investigate a career in interior design

  • Mathematics 3 Credits 1,2  or
  • Technological Competency 3 Credits 1

1 Select a course from the appropriate category of the General Education  list: MATH 103C - Quantitative Reasoning   or
COMP 102 - Computer Literacy  is recommended.

2 Mathematics by official placement test.  Students cannot take courses below placement level.  Exceptions by permission of Department Chair.
