General Science/Pre-Health Professional, an option of the Associate of Science degree program in Science and Mathematics, provides an introduction to basic sciences and is best suited for students who are exploring their scientific interests.  Students who intend to transfer into a traditional four-year degree program are encouraged to complete an Associate of Science degree in a specific discipline such as Biology or Chemistry.  Students interested in pre-medicine, pre-pharmacy, physician assistant or physical therapy programs should consider the Pre-Medicine and Pre-Pharmacy Associate of Science degree program.  All students are advised to select their courses in consultation with a faculty member or academic advisor and the prospective transfer institution.

Graduates are able to:

  • observe, make inferences, classify, organize, and analyze information, and draw evidence- based conclusions consistent with the process of science/scientific method.
  • collect and analyze data using laboratory equipment
  • analyze and solve scientific problems using fundamental principles
  • search for, analyze, and evaluate scientific literature

Raritan Valley Community College Associate of Arts (AA) and Associate of Science (AS) degree programs are designed to comply with the New Jersey Community Colleges General Education Foundation which supports transfer of courses to NJ Public four-year colleges and universities.  Students who intend to transfer to a NJ college or university can further improve the transfer of courses by using the Recommended Transfer Program (RTP) feature in NJTransfer.org.
