Computer Networking & Cybersecurity, Certificate

This certificate program prepares students for entry-level positions in network and security administration, network troubleshooting, basic computer forensics and basic network management in a variety of industries. Students are exposed to the issues involved in designing, managing and securing Computer Networks. A broad base of knowledge is built on traditional LAN and WAN protocols and topologies.  The core of the curriculum is based on the Cisco Networking Academy curriculum which is recognized worldwide as preparation for the Certified Cisco Networking Associate (CCNA) professional certification.

The credits earned in this certificate program can be used toward the Associate of Applied Science Degree in Computer Networking & Cybersecurity.


Graduates are able to:

  • design, administer and monitor a local area network
  • perform basic networking troubleshooting using both hardware and software techniques
  • configure Cisco Routers and Switches
  • assess the security needs for a network based on topology, applications and user needs
  • Implement a secure network to mitigate its vulnerabilities, threats, and attacks

1 NTWK 270  , NTWK 271  , NTWK 272  and NTWK 273  are all seven week classes and must be taken in order.  Each class is a prerequisite for the next course in the series and students must achieve a grade of C or better in each course to continue in the series.

2 MATH 020 Elementary Algebra  is a prerequisite for this course.
