The degree program in Marketing prepares graduates for entry into the job market in advertising, marketing, retailing or sales immediately upon graduation. Even though this is not a transfer program, a recent study indicated that 75% of graduates continued their education at four-year colleges and universities. The Associate of Applied Science degree program in Marketing also provides a core group of business courses in management, accounting and computer science that facilitates transfer to four-year colleges.
Graduates are able to:
- apply basic marketing principles to business decisions
- explain company-wide strategic planning and its four steps
- identify the psychological and social factors that influence consumers in making purchase decisions and how these factors relate to the formation of effective marketing strategy
- construct a marketing plan for a product or service
- formulate market segmentation, target marketing and product positioning strategies
This degree is offered through the Business and Public Service Department, whose mission is to provide challenging career-oriented undergraduate programs to business and public service students, educating them to the level of competency needed for successful transfer to four-year institutions or immediate career path entry into the global market.
