Corequisite(s):CHEM 103 - General Chemistry I (It is recommended that the General Chemistry sequence be completed prior to taking this course). The biology of microorganisms including morphology, physiology and classification will be covered. Emphasis is placed on fundamental concepts of microbiology such as, nutrition, physiology, genetics and the evolution of microbes; the role of microorganisms in ecology, health and medicine, and biotechnology. Laboratory techniques include the culturing and identification of microorganisms. Offered in the fall semester. Three hours of lecture and three hours of laboratory per week.
