(2,0)2 Credits Prerequisite(s):DENT 100 Clinical Applications of Dental Materials , DENT 101 Anatomy of Orofacial Structures , DENT 102 Fundamentals of the Dental Profession , DENT 103 Medical Emergencies in Dentistry . This course in Dental Sciences will present the dental assisting student topics in Nutrition, Pathology and Pharmacology as they relate to dental patient treatment. Recognition and identification of typical oral tissues and anomalies will be discussed in the oral pathology lectures. Assessing the patient’s diet and knowledge of what comprises a healthy diet will be presented in the nutrition lectures. Pharmacology will include topics regarding the most commonly used and prescribed pharmaceuticals in dentistry.
