Dietary Manager, Joint Certificate Program with Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey

NOTE:  Rutgers Dietary Manager Program will no longer accept applications as of May 2014 for the clinical portion of the program.  The program has been placed on hold until further review.  Rutgers will reevaluate for January 2016.

Accredited by the Dietary Management Association (DMA), the Dietary Manager Program will allow graduates to run medical nutrition and general food service establishments. Dietary Managers act as supervisors or managers over long-term care facilities, assisted living, small hospitals, schools, military, and other non-commercial settings, and are an important part of the nutrition care team. Dietary Managers are also responsible for food safety and selecting foods that conform to diet prescriptions. 

Candidates must complete all General Education courses with a minimum grade of a “C+”.

1 Mathematics by official placement testing.  Students must complete a minimum of MATH 101 - Number Systems  .

A student must be enrolled at RVCC in order to apply for the Dietary Manager portion of the program. These courses must be completed with a minimum GPA of 2.75 for a student to be recommended to Rutgers.

Applications to Rutgers need to be made by June 30th.  Students will be contacted by the office of Health Science Education once they have completed the required coursework at RVCC. The didactic and clinical coursework at Rutgers begins in September.

*A minimum of 10 General Education credits must be completed at Raritan Valley Community College.

  • NUTR 1209 Practicum in Dietary Management 5 Credits
  • NUTR 1219 Medical Nutrition Therapy for Dietary Managers 3 Credits
