Veterinary Technology, An Articulated Agreement Leading to the A.S. Degree in Veterinary Technology from St. Petersburg College (Florida)

This specialized agreement is in partnership with St. Petersburg College. Students will enroll and complete their general education courses at RVCC. The Associate of Science degree in Veterinary Technology prepares students to become a veterinary technician, who uses scientific knowledge and skills to benefit society through protecting animal health, relieving animal suffering, conserving livestock resources, promoting public health and advancing medical knowledge.
The A.S. degrees in Veterinary Technology is accredited by the Committee on Veterinary Technician Education and Activities (CVTEA) of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).
Applicants must have worked or volunteered in a veterinary hospital at least 40 hours prior to applying for admission to fulfill the clinical observation requirement. Candidates will also complete the Health Programs Application form and the Veterinary Hospital Observation and Discussion form before they will be considered for acceptance into the Veterinary Technology Program. They will then apply and be approved for the selective program at St. Petersburg, after which they will enroll in distance learning (online) courses to complete the degree. Full-or part-time employment with a Veterinarian is required as part of this program. NOTE: Financial Aid will not be awarded by RVCC for this program. Students may be eligible for Financial Aid from St. Petersburg.
