Biotechnology, Associate of Science

The  Biotechnology A.S. program prepares students for transfer to a four-year college or university. The program has a solid foundation in biology, chemistry and mathematics in addition to the applied laboratory techniques courses in Biotechnology.

Graduates are able to:

  • communicate in a professional manner
  • demonstrate the technical skills applicable to the Biotechnology industry
  • exhibit proficiency in good record keeping and documentation
  • explore career opportunities while gaining in specific technical areas

 

Raritan Valley Community College Associate of Arts (AA) and Associate of Science (AS) degree programs are designed to comply with the New Jersey Community Colleges General Education Foundation which supports transfer of courses to NJ Public four-year colleges and universities.  Students who intend to transfer to a NJ college or university can further improve the transfer of courses by using the Recommended Transfer Program (RTP) feature in NJTransfer.org.

1 Select a course from the appropriate category of the General Education  list.

2 Mathematics by official placement. *Students must complete through MATH 113 Precalculus II . If students place higher than MATH 112 Precalculus I , it is recommended that they take MATH 151 Calculus I . However, free electives may be used in place of mathematics credit.

3 PHIL 114 Ethics   is recommended.

4 Students intending to transfer to Kean University’s Science and Technology Biotechnology Program or to Rutgers University’s Biotechnology Program should take BIOL 242 Genetics .
