The Computer Networking and Cybersecurity Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree program prepares students for employment in network support, design, management, and security within the information technology sector. As organizations increasingly depend on complex networks to support their business processes, graduates of this program are equipped with the skills required to meet these demands.
Program graduates may qualify for positions such as network administrators, responsible for the operation, management, and security of enterprise networking systems.
The curriculum provides extensive hands-on experience in network support, management, and design using Cisco-based equipment and operating systems. At its core, the program follows the Cisco Networking Academy curriculum, internationally recognized as preparation for the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and CyberOps Associate certifications.
Students also gain foundational knowledge in network security, ethical hacking, cloud computing, Microsoft system administration, and computer forensics, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of current industry practices.
Graduates are able to:
- design, configure, and manage wired and wireless networks, including switching, routing, and LAN/WAN environments, using industry-standard tools and Cisco technologies.
- apply core concepts of information security, ethical hacking, and computer forensics to protect networked systems and organizational data.
- analyze and apply ethical, legal, and privacy considerations in networking and cybersecurity practices to ensure compliance with industry and organizational standards.
- evaluate and resolve network and security issues using critical thinking, troubleshooting methods, and current industry best practices.
- communicate technical information effectively in written and oral forms and collaborate professionally with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders in IT and cybersecurity contexts;
- demonstrate readiness for industry-recognized certifications (such as CCNA, CyberOps Associate, CompTIA Network+, and Security+) and apply technical skills through cooperative education or real-world IT projects.
