The Tax Preparer Certificate of Completion is designed for students interested in the field of tax preparation or as an additional credential for accountants. The program provides the foundation necessary to prepare individual income taxes, aid in preparation of partnership and corporation returns, and effectively design accounting systems to integrate smoothly with tax schedule preparation. The student will learn about basic accounting principles and tax regulations, and obtain practical experience preparing tax returns for the public.
Graduates are able to:
- identify and apply tax laws to the preparation of individual and business tax forms
- prepare and file individual tax returns
- use computer software in tax return preparation
This Certificate of Completion is offered through the Business and Public Service Department, whose mission is to provide challenging, career-oriented undergraduate programs to business and public service students, educating them to the level of competency needed for successful transfer to four-year institutions or immediate career path entry into the global market.
NOTE: Students in this program may not be eligible for Financial Aid; students should meet with an Academic Advisor or Financial Aid staff to discuss options for Financial Aid eligibility.
