Business Administration-Overview of Options, Associate of Science

The Business Administration program prepares students for transfer into the junior year at four-year colleges or universities.  It prepares them for many entry-level positions.  This program has a core business curriculum and options in:

Graduates will be able to:

  • demonstrate knowledge of accounting, economics, management, and marketing concepts
  • analyze and interpret information to propose solutions
  • apply quantitative methods to make business decisions
  • recognize and evaluate ethical issues and situations 
  • determine effect of behavioral factors on business outcomes
  • demonstrate effective business communication through individual or collaborative presentations, papers, or reports


This degree is offered through the Business and Public Service Department.

It is recommended that students check with their intended transfer school prior to selecting a program option.

Students enrolled in the Honors College should see their Honors College advisor for specific degree requirements.

Raritan Valley Community College Associate of Arts (AA) and Associate of Science (AS) degree programs are designed to comply with the New Jersey Community Colleges General Education Foundation which supports transfer of courses to NJ Public four-year colleges and universities.  Students who intend to transfer to a NJ college or university can further improve the transfer of courses by using the Recommended Transfer Program (RTP) feature in NJTransfer.org.

Students intending to transfer and pursue a bachelor’s degree in a Business-related program of study may need to take: MATH 110 Statistics I  and MATH 111 Statistics II  ; or MATH 117H Statistics - Honors  .  Students should check with their intended transfer school for specific math requirements.

 2 Select a course from the appropriate category of the General Education  list.

3 Mathematics by official placement.  Students are advised to select from the following courses:   MATH 111 Statistics II  , MATH 112 Precalculus I  , MATH 113 Precalculus II  , MATH 114H Precalculus - Honors  , MATH 117H Statistics - Honors  ,MATH 151 Calculus I  .  See transfer college requirements for math.

Students are advised to select from the following on-semester Science courses: BIOL 111 Principles of Biology  , BIOL 120 Human Biology  , BIOL 150 Plants, Humans & the Environment  , CHEM 102 Introduction to Chemistry  , GEOL 157 Introduction to Geology PHYS 112 Concepts of Physics , or PHYS 130 Astronomy  .

Students seeking transfer to Rutgers-Business School are strongly encouraged to take the additional 1-credit course: CSIT 125 Programming for Business Majors  .

6 Select any course from  ACCT, BUSI, ECON or MRKT.

7 Any college-level course.

8 Any course from MRKT.
