				Mathematics, an option of the Associate of Science degree program in Science and Mathematics, prepares students for transfer into the junior year of a baccalaureate degree program in mathematics, mathematics education or related areas such as statistics, actuarial science, computational biology, mathematical finance, etc.  This program is also recommended for those students interested in pursuing higher studies in physics and allied fields. Graduates have transferred to colleges across the country. Graduates are able to: 
	understand and use the language and symbols of mathematicsapply the fundamental processes of differentiation and integration to phenomena involving changeutilize the concepts of mathematical modelingemploy logical reasoning in mathematical proof and problem-solvingunderstand the appropriate use of technology for problem-solving in such areas as calculus, differential equations, linear algebra, and discrete mathsynthesize mathematical concepts, theories and applications so as to solve mathematical problems independently   Raritan Valley Community College Associate of Arts (AA) and Associate of Science (AS) degree programs are designed to comply with the New Jersey Community Colleges General Education Foundation which supports transfer of courses to NJ Public four-year colleges and universities.  Students who intend to transfer to a NJ college or university can further improve the transfer of courses by using the Recommended Transfer Program (RTP) feature in NJTransfer.org.     |
