MSGE 110 - Massage Therapy Fundamentals



Fundamentals of Massage Therapy is an introductory level of training, students will learn the basic skills and techniques needed to work on clients. This course covers body mechanics, draping, massage movements, effects of massage, indication and contraindication, professional communication, ethics and sanitary practice. Introduction to the wellness industry will be covered. Students will discuss the personal qualities and communication required to be a successful licensed massage therapist. Anatomy and physiology of systems will be covered with emphasis on skin, skeletal, muscular, circulatory and nervous systems, concurrently with its diseases and disorders. Students will also participate in lab practicing massage on each other. Students will learn about sole proprietorship, franchise, clinics, medical and specialty massage opportunities.
