BIOL 149 - Field Ornithology

(3,3) 4 Credits
Prerequisite(s): 1 semester of Biology-related course (e.g.BIOL 101 General Biology I , BIOL 102 General Biology II , BIOL 111 Principles of Biology , BIOL 124 Human Anatomy & Physiology I , BIOL 125 Human Anatomy & Physiology II , BIOL 133 Principles of Microbiology , BIOL 150 Plants, Humans & the Environment , BIOL 120 Human Biology ).
This course is a field study of birds, focusing on the identification, biology and conservation of resident and migrant species of New Jersey. Students will be introduced to basic concepts in the taxonomy, anatomy, physiology, behavior, ecology and conservation of bird species in New Jersey and around the world. Field trips will cover a broad range of habitats and natural areas in the state. Offered in the spring semester.
