CHEM 213 - Organic Chemistry I- Lecture Only

Prerequisite(s): CHEM 104 General Chemistry II  .
This course is the first semester of a two-semester intensive survey of the chemistry of carbon-based compounds. Emphasis is placed on the role of structure, functional groups, stereochemistry, reaction mechanisms, spectroscopy, and synthetic methods. Topics include the chemistry of alkanes, alkenes, alkynes, alcohols, and alkyl halides, as well as nucleophilic substitution, elimination, and addition reaction mechanisms.
